This ensemble has sung regularly at services in Orthodox churches, first in Novi Sad and from 2011 in the historical town of Sremski Karlovci, continuing this way the rich and long tradition of Serbian choral societies in the region. The choir often also performs at public concerts and its achievements are recognizable both in the artistic and educational-missionary field. The repertoire consists of sacred music from XIII c. to contemporary composers, arrangements of Serbian folk songs, as well as the secular choral music in various languages. It published 15 CDs and 4 music score collections. Four CDs of the choir were published in the USA by the Chicago Radio WFMT. The choir performed at numerous concerts and church services throughout Europe, Russia and Israel and was highly awarded at international competitions and festivals. Today, the St Stephen of Dechani Choir is recognized as one of the best ensembles in Serbia that specialize in sacred music, with a varied repertoire and a unique sensibility for choral sound.

Vocal studio ORFELIN was formed in 2009 as a professional oratorio ensemble, with the idea to perform thematic programs for great Christian holidays: Christmas and Easter. Orfelin aims to preserving its own musical heritage and for that purpose a special project was created and performed many times: A Man Made of Music, dedicated to the life and work of Kornelije Stanković, the first Serbian educated composer, born in Buda(Pest). Throughout the years, an orchestra was formed to join the choir and Orfelin broadened its repertoire to contemporary music. Some of the most important Orfelin projects were: Bach’s St Matthew Passion in historically informed performance, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and several cantatas, oratorio works by Handel, Mozart, Charpentier, Berlioz, Mendelssohn, the Serbian premiere of the opera “Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh” by N. Rimsky Korsakov. The ensemble performed many times in Hungary and Austria and recorded for Serbian and foreign radio and TV companies.

Youth Philharmonic “Isidor Bajić“ was founded in 1958/59 in Novi Sad, mainly from students of the Isidor Bajić music school. Its activity was re-established in 1984 and again in 2017, under the artistic leadership of conductor Tamara Adamov (Petijević). The orchestra performed at many concerts and won several highest international and national prizes: First Prize Summa Cum Laude in Neerpelt (Belgium, 2017), First Prize in Bratislava (Slovakia, 2023) and Laureate (for String Orchestra) at the National Competition of Music Schools of Serbia (2024). Other important projects were: Opening ceremony of the International choral festival Singing Bridges (2024) and Sound Beams project within the framework of the “European Capital of Culture – Novi Sad 2022”, when children with mental and physical disabilities performed together with the orchestra.

Dr Tamara Adamov is conductor, violinist and teacher, a researcher in the field of Orthodox sacred music and leader and artistic director of three choirs and two symphony orchestras. She conducts the renowned Orthodox church choir St Stephen of Dechani and the Isidor Bajic Music School mixed and girls’ choir.
